April 2026 Mission
April Mission Updates: Monday, April 27
Where I am: Yerevan – Artashat, Armenia
Leaving Yerevan for Artashat.
Today in a sentence:
Reunited with my Armenian family – reminded again that love speaks clearly, even without words.
At breakfast this morning, David and Anastasia once again greeted me with kindness. These dear people have become familiar faces over the years, and it is always a joy to share even a few moments of conversation before the day begins.
Soon it was time to pack and prepare for the next part of my mission – Artashat.
After checking out, Edik – my Armenian brother, whose family I stay with – met me at the hotel. We embraced like family, and began the drive.
At one point, I found myself talking freely with him, only to remember that he does not speak English, and I do not speak Armenian. I caught myself mid-sentence and laughed. And yet, somehow, it doesn’t matter. There is a connection that goes deeper than language. Hearts have a way of understanding one another when love is present.
We arrived at my Armenian home.
Vart (Edik’s mother), Gohar (his wife), Miriam (daughter-in-law), and Angelina (daughter) greeted me with warm hugs and laughter. These are not simply hosts – they are family.
After Armenian coffee and treats, I had the joy of meeting the newest member of the family – Naieer (Nay-eer), the six-month-old son of Arthur and Miriam. A beautiful child and a joyful addition to this home.
Arthur arrived later after a long day of teaching at the university, and Sara came home from school. Varduhi, the oldest daughter, was still at work and will return later this evening.
This family has become my family – dear, gracious, and deeply generous in spirit.
After a wonderful, abundant dinner (as always), I listened to my body and chose rest. It has been a full season, and tomorrow will require attentiveness as I meet with Lilit and several pastors for one-on-one conversations.
Prayer/Reflection
Thank You, Lord, for the gift of relationships that go beyond words.
In a world often divided by language, culture, and distance, You remind me that love, kindness, and presence speak clearly.
Thank You for this family – for their warmth, their generosity, and their open hearts. May I never take lightly the sacred trust of being welcomed into another’s home.
As I prepare for tomorrow, grant me clarity, compassion, and attentiveness in every conversation. Help me to listen well, to encourage wisely, and to reflect Your heart in all I say and do. – Amen
Fun Fact:
Armenian hospitality is not just a cultural trait – it’s a deeply held value. Guests are often treated as family, and meals are intentionally abundant as a sign of honor and generosity. It’s not uncommon for a simple visit to turn into a multi-course experience!
