April 2026 Mission

April Mission Updates: Sunday, April 26

Where I am: Yerevan, Armenia

Worship & Ministry at Pastor Natalia’s church today.

Today in a sentence:

A full and meaningful day of worship, ministry, and fellowship – despite a fading voice and weary body.

Hovo, Hasmik, and their three small children picked me up at the hotel at 10:00 a.m., and we made our way to the church.

Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted by many familiar faces – though I must admit, most of the names remain difficult for me to pronounce. Still, the smiles and embraces speak a language I understand well.

I was led to the pastor’s office where I was served hot chai and pastries. The tea was especially soothing, as I’ve come down with a rather stubborn head cold and am beginning to lose my voice.

As I entered the auditorium, the worship team was already leading. The room was filled with singing and a noticeable sense of anticipation. Armenians love their music – energetic and loud. At times, it was difficult to hear Hasmik as she translated the lyrics for me, but the passion in the room needed no translation.

I’ve spoken in this church many times over the years, and one thing always stands out: people take notes. There is a deep hunger for the Word of God. For many, Scripture is not simply studied – it is relied upon, a steady source of strength in challenging circumstances.

Hasmik did an exceptional job interpreting. She stayed in step with me throughout – matching tone, pace, and even gestures. It’s a unique kind of partnership, and I’m always grateful for her sensitivity and skill.

When the service concluded, it was difficult to leave. Many came forward to express their gratitude – not only for today, but for the relationship we’ve built over the years. These moments are humbling and deeply meaningful.

After the building cleared, the pastor and leaders graciously prepared a wonderful Armenian meal. We lingered around the table, sharing testimonies, answering questions, celebrating progress, and speaking honestly about the challenges ahead. These conversations are often where some of the most important ministry takes place.

Later in the afternoon, Hasmik and Hovo drove me to the airport – where, at long last, I was reunited with my missing suitcase from Turkey. A small victory, but a welcome one.

Returning to the hotel, I lay down for what I thought would be a short rest. Five hours later, I woke briefly – only enough to stretch before going back to sleep.

Tomorrow, I travel to Artashat, stepping into the next opportunity for ministry.

Prayer/Reflection

Lord, thank You for the gift of Your Church- expressed in different languages, cultures, and contexts, yet united in Christ.

Thank You for the hunger I see in these leaders and believers – a hunger for Your Word, Your presence, and Your truth. Strengthen them in the quiet places where faith is tested and perseverance is required.

And Lord, as my body grows weary, remind me that this work is not sustained by strength alone, but by Your Spirit. Give me rest where needed, and clarity where required, as I continue forward. – Amen.
